Walker Bay Radio Flyers is a South African approved ARO model aircraft flying club situated near Hermanus in the Overstrand district of the Western Cape. We have our own flying field where members and guests can come and fly model aircraft and have fun. The club can also help newcomers to the sport with training and advice. Our club is a very relaxed one with the emphasis on the fun aspect of the sport.
The both fixed wing and helicopters are welcome and flown at the club. The club currently has more than 65 active members and most of our flying is done on weekends weather permitting. Model aircraft range from electric park fliers to large petrol powered aerobatic planes, helicopters and gliders. The flying field has two tarred 120 x 5.5 meter runways with 30 meters of run-off space at the ends. Our pits area is covered with shade cloth for those warm sunny days. Most flying is done on Saturday and Sunday mornings, weather permitting. We also have a fair number of pensioners that frequent the club airfield during the week. Vistors are always welcome and we are keen to grow the club. Pay us a visit if you are interested in making this exciting and dynamic hobby yours.
